Parents trust a babysitter who has trained. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course is open to youth aged 11 to 15 and lasts 7 to 8 hours. It covers child development, caring for infants and children, safety, first aid and how to run a small babysitting business. A virtual version with an instructor is also offered.

A first aid and CPR certificate helps at any age, especially if you want to care for babies or work evenings.
