During my most recent experience, I provided regular childcare for a 9-year-old girl at her family home, four to five afternoons per week. My responsibilities began as soon as school let out. I would pick her up from school, make sure she hadn't left anything in her locker, and we'd walk home together while reviewing safety rules along the way. Once at home, we followed a comforting routine: washing hands, putting her bag away, and having a snack. I then helped her with her homework in a fun and engaging way, encouraging her to work independently. Before her parents arrived home, we wrapped up the day with a quiet activity—playing a board game, drawing, or reading together.
